The PREPARE Research Team Participated in the AIDS 2024 Conference
The PREPARE research team participated in AIDS 2024, the 25th Annual AIDS Conference sponsored by the International AIDS Society in Munich, Germany. A day prior to the conference the PREPARE team convened the first meeting of the PREPARE Working Group for a half-day workshop. Members of the PREPARE working group include HIV adolescent health investigators, youth advisors, bioethicists, regulatory experts, and community advocates who will be working collaboratively to design ethical guidance for enhancing the safe and responsible inclusion of pregnant adolescents in clinical HIV and co-infections research. The team was thrilled to be joined at AIDS 2024 by members of the PREPARE project’s Botswana and Malawi Youth Advisory Boards, who participated in the Working Group meeting as well as throughout the conference’s youth- and community-focused programming. In addition, at AIDS 2024, Hadas Baron of the PREPARE team presented two posters: one exploring the perspectives of adolescents in Botswana and Malawi on joining HIV-related clinical trials during pregnancy, and the other examining these adolescents’ views on regulations that impact their participation in clinical HIV research (e.g. informed consent processes, contraceptive requirements, and mandatory abuse reporting).
